About Us

The subject of alcohol, in particular its impact on health and social responsibility, is high on the Scottish Government's agenda.

BII and its awarding body, BIIAB, are committed to supporting the licensed hospitality and licensed retail trade in Scotland in achieving the highest standards of professionalism and social responsibility so that licensees, staff and others who work or have links with the trade, have all the information, skills and knowledge to operate profitably and successfully within the law and in a socially responsible manner.

BII is the professional body for the licensed industry in the UK – pubs, hotels, off-licences, restaurants, clubs, shops and supermarkets and all other places where alcohol is sold. Members in Scotland enjoy many benefits which support them in their business and save them money.

As part of BII's commitment to helping members through the licensing law change, we offer special support in the form of a special licensing helpline, information on architects and solicitors and regular updates on this website.

BIIAB offers market-leading qualifications to support the new licensing regime as well as equip you and your staff with the skills to operate successfully into the future. To find out more, click on the tabs above.
