Scholarship Programme Opens For Scottish Hospitality Industry

A programme worth £1 million to improve standards and raise ambition within Scotland’s hospitality industry will be launched at an event in Glasgow today (2nd September 2011).

2011 will be The British Institute of Innkeeping’s 30th year. To mark thirty years of development in our industry, BII has been celebrating throughout the year with the highlight of these celebrations being the 30th Anniversary Dinner taking place at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich on 24th November 2011.

BIIAB Scotland Awards its first Advanced Certificate in Licensed Hospitality

Kirsty McKeown, Assistant Manager, at the Tayside Hotel in Stanley, Perthshire has become the first person in Scotland to be awarded the BIIAB Advanced Certificate in Licensed Hospitality. This Certificate has a combination of three units which include “Motivating your team”, “Profit and Loss / Budget Control”, and “Understanding your Market”. People Solutions of Glasgow delivered the training programme.

If you showed the Budget in your pub this week, it won’t have put much of the old “feel good” factor into customers watching with you. For all the Chancellor’s efforts to claim he was putting fuel in the economy’s tank, it just didn’t come over as much of a boost to anyone.
