Legal Consultancy Role For BII Scotland’s Janet Hood
Released
03/02/2010
Summary
Janet Hood, head of BII Scotland and a leading specialist in liquor licensing, has taken on an additional role as part-time consultant to the Aberdeen law firm of James & George Collie.
Angus-based Ms Hood, whose remit is to promote BII initiatives north of the border and to represent the organisation’s members in government and local forums, brings 25 years’ experience in dealing with licensing issues to Collies and, like the firm’s senior partner, Tony Dawson, is one of a small number of licensing specialists accredited by the Law Society of Scotland.
“We will be offering our expertise and services to other legal firms,” she said, “who do not specialise in licensing to ensure the client gets the best possible advice.
“I already offer a free licensing law helpline to members of the BII in Scotland who will now be able to go to J&G Collie for more formal legal advice.”
Mr Dawson, a long established expert in this area of the law, said he saw Ms Hood’s appointment as a major coup for his firm.
He said: “Janet is widely recognised as a lawyer with her finger on the pulse of what is happening regarding licensing laws in Scotland and her agreement to join us is an exciting move ahead for Collies.”
